Watching the Signal chat with Hegseth kerfuffle unfold, it occurred to me that you don't need to chain a briefcase to a dead homeless guy and drop him off a coastline from a submarine to fool the enemy. One simply needs to "accidently" provide information to folks who are totally concerned about America's safety and within hours if not minutes the subterfuge is in play.
If that wasn't the original intent in this case, I'd bet it could still be used quite a few times before the ploy was revealed.
